My first foray into France via music touring was simply sintilating. Not only was the cheese incredible but the shows were packed and we were envelolped by warm welcoming vibrations which will last us until we return which may be sooner than we knew. Day one I was so happy to be in Paris that I attracted a not so hot follower with my smile on a brief walk around the block who i had to shoo off like a dog. Similarily, a carpet salesman smelled new blood and b-lined straight for me and I actually bought one off him! He wanted 40 euros, I offered him 15 and he said ok..I'm looking at it now and it's working with the curtains quite well. Huggy our tour manager invited us for tapas our first night and we drank too much red wine and cranked up the tunes in his humble flat and started the tour hung over-nice. Meesha, our 3 year old roadie and my son, puked a couple of times from motion sickness but onward ho...eau de vomit partout!! Valence was our first show, very fun, very full of humans who were the best crowd i've played to in years!! Grenoble is in the Alpes, we had no free time there but the show was also sweet. Paris was a bigger venue-soft seater but the crowd was cool so they balanced the sit down vibe with their stand up hippness. We played with Au Revoir Simone from Brooklyn Nyc. Three chicks with keyboards ala Virgin Suicides...they were really healthy and young and nice. The last show in Lille was the better still. It just all clicked that night, the room, the folks, our finale with Verlaine and our deconstruction outro...gotta come see it for yourselves! I miss yummy cheese but I'm happy to stretch out spread my arms out all the way again here in the land of space and of course home is irreplaceable.

So, I went to Paris. I played on radio stations and for internet websites, met lots of cool people, spoke french, ate rich creamy yummy foods and even though it was that cold that gets to your bones, it's unbelievably gorgeous architechture and relentlessly styish people inspired me to no end!!
I await return with impatient patience.
